SmartMist was engaged to install a mist suppression system in a converted warehouse that had been vacant for over eight years. The end client is a prominent serviced office provider, and our partnership with the M&E contractor, known for its reliability and quality, ensured a seamless collaboration.
The project took place over the summer of 2024 and lasted ve weeks, with an average of four staff members on site.
The project presented several challenges:
- Electrics and Lighting Variations: Constant variations in drawings were necessitated by the complex electrical and lighting infrastructure on-site.
- Ceiling Heights: Some areas had elevated ceilings, which posed installation challenges.
To address the ceiling height issue, SmartMist recently launched a mist nozzle that has successfully passed tests at high lengths, allowing us to replace traditional sprinkler systems effectively.
Site Management: A dedicated Project Manager was allocated, maintaining regular site presence and conducting weekly review meetings to ensure alignment on project objectives amid ongoing variations.
Water Supply: We installed a 5000-litre water tank in the basement, integrated with an infill system from the mains supply.
Timeline: The project ran approximately eight days longer than initially planned, attributed to external factors beyond our control.
The client expressed high satisfaction with our work and the dedication shown by our team. Our commitment to excellence is further exemplified by the allocation of both an Account Manager and Project Manager to oversee project execution. Kirstie and Dave, our trained managers, excelled in fitting into the client’s plans and ensuring smooth collaboration on-site.
The mist suppression system was commissioned in September 2024, with the site scheduled to opening December/January. Additionally, we established a maintenance agreement with the building owner for biannual servicing, reinforcing our commitment to long-term client relationships.
